A Newark man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with the death of his 2-year-old son.
34-year-old Daniel Masters has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and his bond was set at $50,000 during a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to the East Main Street house around 11 a.m. on March 10th and were initially told that Benjamin Scott Masters was found in his bed not breathing.
However, according to the Newark Advocate, officials later found out that Masters had left Benjamin and his 1-year-old brother alone in the bathroom with an open bottle of methadone.
When Masters returned less than a minute later, he reportedly found Benjamin with the bottle in his hand.
Newark police detectives received the toxicology results Monday, which led to Daniel’s arrest.
