A Newark man was arrested Saturday morning for attacking two men with a machete.

Police responded to the South 5th Street apartment around 4:30 a.m. and found one victim with a ‘severe laceration’ on his left hand and a scratch on the second victim’s throat.

The victims told police that the suspect, a 31-year-old man, got upset because they were talking to his girlfriend.

Formal charges are still expected to be filed in a bond hearing at the Licking County Municipal Court.
