DUBLIN IRISH FESTIVAL

Its been named &.one of the biggest and best festivals in the country by Chicagos Irish American News and a Top 100 Event in North America by the American Bus Association (for 2005). It draws around 90,000 visitors from across the globe. Set on 20 rolling acres, the event features more than 60 musical acts from the U.S. and Ireland performing music on eight stages (from Celtic rock to traditional ballads). Three cultural stages feature storytelling, folklore, music and hands-on workshops. Visitors can discover Irelands traditional instruments while learning to play the fiddle or tin whistle &or& be transported back into Irish history when they visit a 10th Century Irish villagea time when Irish hero Brian Boru chased the Danes out of the Emerald Isle. Irish dancers compete in the Columbus Feisa competition that attracts 1,300 of the nations best Ceili dancers. Visitors can watch sheep herding demonstrations, explore their genealogy, shop the Emerald Isle for imported good, attend a Gaelic mass, learn to make a proper scone or sample an endless variety of Irish food and drink.

Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival

This year, the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival will begin its 21st year of performances and activities in Downtown Mount Vernon. The Festival is a celebration of American music commemorating Mount Vernon's own Daniel Decatur Emmett, the author and composer of many 19th century songs. Emmett's tunes, such as Dixie, Blue Tail Fly, Ole Dan Tucker, and Turkey in the Straw, bring back the nostalgia of our heritage in each of our hearts.
The Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival is pleased to announce Micky Dolenz of The Monkees will be performing at the 2008 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival on Saturday evening, August 9th.

OHIO'S FRIENDLIEST TRAIN ROBBERY
Location: Hocking Valley Scenic Railway in Nelsonville

Join the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway this summer as the train gets robbed by bandits on horseback. At some point during the trip, passengers will encounter a group of bandits determined to bag some loot from those on-board. Don't despair, play money will be handed out to everyone onboard beforehand to give to the robbers after they board the train. It promises to be a loud and thrilling trip for the whole family. Trains are seated on a first come, first served basis, so reservations are recommended for special trains or groups of thirty or more. Mail-in reservations must be received no less than ten days prior to the trip.

Circleville Pumpkin Show
Location: Circleville

Great pumpkins Charlie Brown, this is said to be Ohios oldest and largest pumpkin celebration. It hosts seven different parades in half as many days. This includes the Pumpkin Parade, Pet Parade and Baby Parade to name a few. The events also include a Big Wheel Race, worlds largest pumpkin pie, a pumpkin toss, pie eating competition and Fun Show. Additional contests of interest include hog calling, egg toss and pumpkin carving. Many displays, arts, crafts and live entertainment also accompany the festivities as well as plenty of pumpkins, squash and gourds.
